Raising Above Being Sad

About a month ago I was feeling really sad and very low, I felt as though nothing was going my way and that I couldn't find happiness again. I tired my best to think positive but it felt as I could never feel happy. I absolutely hate this I mean who doesn't hate feelings sad. I couldn't figure out what the problem was so I started to think hard about it and I came to a realization. I wasn't happy with allot of aspects of my life. I'm mostly a loner and I have few friends ,but the friends that I do have I like to keep close I get attached easier and that was the problem. I was feeling low and felt as though my friends wasn't here for me. What I didn't realize is  that it isn't the end of the world life goes on and you can meet new people. What I'm trying to say if your head is facing a wall there is a way out. Try to identify the problem then when you see it change it. Do things you love for me I paint ,I go out, and I go to school events. When you stay busy you stay happy. If you're going through A hard time I want you to know your not alone and that I faced a similar situation. I'll be posting a video soon on YouTube about rising above beings sad.

Flexi Rods

Being natural can be very tedious and time consuming but with the right skills and methods anyone can handle it. Lately I have been doing the same thing with my hair every day wash and go's , and twist outs. I wanted to spice things up a little bit, so I decided to do something different. I started to think about what hair styles I could do that would both look nice , not be too damaging. Among my options were braids, weave, flexi rods. Ultimately I deiced to go with flexi rods. I've been using flexi rods on and off for a couple of years now ,and it still gets complicated at times. I would consider perfecting flexi rods as a skill. The cons of flexi rods are how easily tangled it can become when your putting them in, how uncomfortable it can get to sleep on, and it might give you a head an headache from all the pulling on your scalp. The benefits of using flexi rods are the fantastic look it gives you , how long your curls will last, and how manageable your hair will be. Before I started doing my flexi rods my hair was looking very dull, and dry. Although it wasn't in its best condition I take good care of my hair so it didn't look too horrible. My hair needed some relief from the pain it was in. I'll insert a picture.
I started to do my hair flexi rods on freshly washed hair . When I did my flexi rod set I used four products only a spray bottle, Eden's curl defining cream, , eco style coconut gel, and argon oil mousse . All These products are relatively cheap ,and they help to moisturize your hair it works extremely well on natural hair. Your natural hair will thank you  with all the shine, bounce, and body your hair will have. If you have relaxed hair I recommend using a little of the eved curl defining cream because it will weight your hair down just a tad.
Here are some photos of me with my flexi rod set in. I was having fun with it ,and being silly don't take my to serious. I really had fun taking these pictures. In the photos you can see how shiny my hair is, that it looks very healthy, and neat.

Sleeping on flexi rods can be very painful, so you might want to do flexi rods once in a while for your heads benefit. Also you should take your time while unwrapping your flexi robs if you do it too fast some of your hair strands might come out and you don't want that to happen. A tip would be to put a bit of oil on your fingers and unwrap it slowly. This is a picture of me when I took out my flexi rods. In the picture you can see my hair is reflecting the light, and looks super shiny.
These are the final results of my flexi rods set. It is a big improvement from what I started with so I'm very happy with the result. I will continue to use these products and see how it will effect the healthiness of my hair. Until next time Tammy 💜

Tips For Natural Hair

So I mentioned in my previous post that I've been natural all my life. Although I have been natural for a long time I haven't always taken preclusions to take care of my hair. As time goes on I'm still learning the right methods and techniques to keep my hair in great shape. In this post I am going to be sharing some tips and tricks that you might want to use to help your natural hair thrive.

Tip #1-Is to avoid putting rubber bands in your hair. Rubber bands tear out your hair and will have you looking like Susie from rugrats from all the breakage your hair will accumulate. Hair breakage is something most people with natural hair will try to avoid. As an alternative its good to use metal-less hair ties. When you use metal less hair ties you breakage will be greatly reduced because it will not pull on your hair as much as rubber bands. Your hair will thank you greatly for you taking good care of it.

Tip #2-Try to use the LOC method which is a acronym for liquid, oil, and cream. I use the LOC method and it helps to keep my hair moisturized, shiny, and manageable. The LOC method is primarily used to steal in the moisture in your hair. My viewers that have not yet tried this method should try it and tell me your results.

Tip #3- Take care of your protective styles. If you have a hard time styling your natural hair, or you don't always have time to fix up your hair. Protective styles might be the necessary option for you. People often forget to take care to their hair when they have protective styles. If you have braids in for a protective style it is a good idea to keep your scalp moisturized, and clean. Since you will have braids for a good amount of time it will help with breakage if you hair is moisturized. You will notice less fall out when you take out your braids. Next if you decided that wigs are the right option for you, you should make sure your hair underneath is well taken care of. If you have a wig you should make sure you detangle, and wash your hair underneath.

Tip #4- You should avoid combing you hair when its dry. If you're a curly girl or boy it is easier to comb your hair when its damp it will be easier to detangle. Another benefit of combing you hair wet would be that  you will have less breakage than when its dry. A good tip would be to comb your hair out with conditioner.

About My Natural Hair

My hair has been natural all my life. I really enjoy being natural unfortunately nothing good comes without some struggles. Dealing with natural hair can be very intimidating I often spend allot of time trying manage it. My hair also has a little bit of damage that I am recovering from. I will insert a couple photographs to show some colors I dyed my hair in high school. That lead to me having damage in my hair.

I  was absolutely in infatuated with my bleached out hair. Little did I know bleaching my hair was incredibly bad for my hair. The side effects of bleaching my hair was a looser curl pattern and my hair would get more tangled more often than usual. I could not bother with the extra stress of tangled hair and looser curl pattern.
So I took a huge step and decided to dye my hair black again. Ultimately  I had to cut my hair to cut the damage off I did this December 25,2016. These are the results of my trim a more defined curl pattern, less frizz and more shine, the most important difference I noticed was in the thickness my hair felt more full even though it had less hair how weird it that!

My hair is now noticeably  thicker and seems to have more shine, bonce, grew a bit more. I am great full for the improvement in hair but I have been sometimes struggling to figure out what styles to put in my hair. Natural hair is very versatile but when you have a large amount of hair sometimes you don't know what to do with it that is me about right now. My plan is to do more protective styles so my styles can last a while while still looking like I put effort into my appearance.

Tips for college

College can be a very stressful and demanding experience, but it can also be extremely rewarding. The best way to make your college experience less stressful is to put in the work to be successful. In life it not about working harder it's about working smarter. Here are some tips for surviving college. Tip #1 become your professors best friend. The professor is the one that will ultimately give you your final grade, so it's good to establish a good connection with them. The benefits of befriending your professor are endless; if the professor knows you well he most likely will try to give guidance if you reach out for help, the professor might curve your grade if he sees your putting in effort to do well, or give you extra credit. Tip #2 try to finish assignments as soon as you are available. By finishing assignments as soon as possible you can get everything out of the way and have time to relax. If you have kids and responsibilities and aren't able to do your work that's apart of life. When you get the chance to have free time you should try to get your all your assignments work done. When you get the work out of the way you can focus on other things like relaxing or spending time with your family. Tip #3 highlighting is helpful. After you highlight textbook when you're ready to review for the test it makes it easier to remember. #4 Attending the lecture is a better option than watching the lecture online. It easy to drift of and do other things when your home trying to watch the lecture , if you attend the lecture you will be less distracted. Tip #4 Make flashcards when you have flashcards it makes it easier to remember information when studying for the examination. Flashcards help to solidify the key terms and examples. After making the flash card you will find that you are remembering information more quickly on the test. Tip #5 study in different environments. I found that when I changed up my surroundings while studying I was able to remember, and concentrate more effectively. I was also was able to recall information more quickly.

My Art

The painting shows utter emotion, this piece has a deep meaning to me. I will leave you to interpret its meaning for yourself, but for me my painting symbolizes various things that you might not have thought about. The two black strings at the top of her head symbolize her being controlled by someone. Her skin tone is green and gold to represent how she's changing as a person , she is not longer the person she once was in the past. She wants to find her way, but at the moment she's is lost, and doesn't know the right direction to go in. Her hair also represents all the changes she's experiencing in life she has not yet found her the right place to fit in. The table shows death, everything is dying on the table. The black flower shows the pedals are falling off to represent death. The colors on the table were intentionally made to look dark and sinister to convey the feeling of hurting. The heart to the side of the painting with black eyes (looking away) represents a guy that is distant and uninterested in his relationship. On the contrary the pink eyes show how the girl is in love and try's to be happy but in the end she's ultimately broken. The heart with Band-Aid shows she's trying to repair herself, but she is far from doing so. The heart with a knife in it shows she got stabbed in the back and she's still hurting.
